Okay so I have a confession. I'm a little bit (majorly) obsessed with interior styling and design.
The crush on interiors first begun in the early naughties, where I watched Sarah Beenie- in all her self-righteous glory- on Property Ladder (if you don't know what that show is, then shame on you). The crush turned into a full on long-term love affair somewhere between being GOD DAMN OBSESSED with all things Ikea (circa 2012, sorry Ikea, you've now lost your gloss) and spending more time on an app called Houzz than I do on, well, anything else in my life.
Here's the hot tip my friends, if you are building, renovating or just dreaming of doing either of those activities then do yourself a favour- look at Houzz. This app is not only my favourite app on my phone, it is invaluable when putting together ideas for our own house. Basically, it is a hub of photos from all different types of houses (mostly in Australia) PLUS you can even see where to buy some of the products featured in the pictures.
You see, as much as I loovvvvveee interior design, Steve would rather study the label of his beer than compare contemporary, modern, scandi and industrial aesthetics.
The beauty of this app is that (a) you can create an Ideabook, keeping favourite photos in the one place and (b) gently persuade your significant other that going with your ideas will result in a ridiculously beautiful and effortless (haha) space. It really is a win/win.
But wait, there's more. Yes there are stunning photos- some of houses which I would have to work for 1,254 years in order to afford such amazingness (#midwife4lyf)- but there is also a forum. So for anyone who is starting, half-way through or almost finished with a build or renovation, you can ask professionals (and mere mortals) for advice for free!
Ahh I'm so in love.
